Sleep Country USA Honored as One of Washington’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” by Seattle Business Magazine
Company’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan, Strong Benefits, and Comprehensive Training Positively Impacts Employee Satisfaction
For Immediate Release
SEATTLE – June 17, 2011 – One of the nation’s few employee-owned companies and the number one Northwest mattress store, Sleep Country USA, announced today it has been named one of Washington’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” by Seattle Business magazine. To be named in the list of top 100 companies, Sleep Country’s employees participated in an internal survey administered through a third-party research firm and submitted to Seattle Business’s distinguished panel of judges. Winning companies were chosen based on bar-raising standards for leadership, excellent benefits packages and innovative training programs.
“Being named one of the State’s ‘100 Best Companies to Work for’ is an incredible honor and aligns with our commitment to our employees’ workplace satisfaction,” said Dale Carlsen, CEO. “We have an outstanding team of employees and strive to offer competitive benefits and a uniquely employee-focused environment, because we know that an investment in our team is an investment in the company’s future.”
Sleep Country is distinct among the nominated companies for its new Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), implemented in 2010, effectively making it an employee-owned company with employees taking a 25% ownership stake in the company. All qualified employees share in the growth and prosperity of the company by obtaining shares of the company, providing a new opportunity for accumulating retirement assets – at no cost to them. The ESOP plan complements the company’s existing successful 401(k) plan.
In addition to its ESOP and 401(k) plan, Sleep Country’s full benefits package includes an Employee Assistance Program; competitive health benefits; paid time off; a Management Training Program; Service Awards that recognize outstanding employees; a continuing education program that reimburses up to 50% of the cost for classes; and the opportunity to be compensated for volunteer and community service work.
Sleep Country is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary, and anticipates the next 20 years will bring expansion throughout the region, a maintained spotlight on employees, the best sleep product selection, continued focus on excellent customer service, and an increased impact on the community through their award-winning Foster Kids program.
