Seattle – March 11, 2013 – Get ready to roll! Registration for Sleep Country USA’s eighth annual Pajama Bowl for Foster Kids is open!
The Northwest’s #1 mattress retailer invites its community to hop out of bed (no need to change out of your PJs!) and participate in its dual-city event to raise money for local foster children. Pajama-clad Portlanders can participate on Sunday, April 21st, and strike-throwing Seattleites can join the fun on Sunday, April 28th.
Fun and Philanthropy Changes the Lives of Area Foster Children
Sleep Country’s Pajama Bowl events draw thousands of pajama-wearing participants. To join the fun, participants must form teams of four-to-five bowlers and raise a minimum of $250 ($50 per person). All of the participant funds raised go directly to Sleep Country’s non-profit foster organization partners to make foster children’s “little wishes” a reality – activities and experiences like learning to play an instrument, participating in a school sport or attending summer camp, where siblings are often reunited.
It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane – No it’s Your Neighbor Wearing Superman Pajamas!
Select your PJs, whether plaid, polka dot or striped, and sign up to bowl online at www.pajamabowl.com! Portland-area bowlers can bowl strike after strike on April 21st at Big Al’s in Vancouver or Beaverton. Seattle participants can score turkeys on April 28th at either ACME Bowling, Billiards & Events in Tukwila or TechCity Bowl in Kirkland. Upon signing up, participants can also select their bowling start time – either 11am or 2pm, and choose the recipient foster organization that will receive their donation dollars.
It’s a Win – Win!
If you bowl more gutter balls than turkeys, start practicing! In addition to having fun and giving back, participants have the chance to win great prizes at Sleep Country’s Pajama Bowl. A grand prize winning team will be selected from Portland and Seattle, and receive a queen-size Simmons Beautyrest World Class mattress for each member! Scores are based on combined bowling scores, amount donated over the minimum ($250), and participation in raffles. Points are also given for wearing pajamas, and style counts! Wear your most outrageous, yet family-friendly pajamas, to earn the title of ‘Best Pajamas.’ Even if you don’t receive first place, you’ll have the chance to win fun prizes throughout the event including music CDs, DVDs, event tickets and more.
Previous Pajama Bowl events have raised more $615,000 for northwest foster children. “We are thrilled by the growing success of this fun, family-friendly event,” said Terry Horsley, vice president of brand strategy for Sleep Country. “Participants can give back to their community, knowing that 100% of the donations they collect directly impact a foster child’s life. This paired with the fun had at the event makes the Pajama Bowl something our communities look forward to each year.”
