Have a Ball Rolling Strikes at
Sleep Country USA’s Pajama Bowl for Foster Kids

9th annual event raises money for foster children to participate in life-shaping “little wishes” programs and extracurricular activities

Seattle – March, 10, 2014 – Put on your PJs and polish your bowling balls! Registration is now open for Sleep Country’s ninth annual Pajama Bowl for Foster Kids. The Northwest’s #1 mattress retailer will host the dual-city event in Portland and Seattle on Sunday, April 27th to raise money for local foster children.

Throw gutter balls or strikes – you’ll still change the lives of area foster children

Thousands bowl in the annual Pajama Bowl event each year to help ensure foster children and youth can afford to participate life shaping extracurricular activities. Participants form teams of four-to-five bowlers and raise a minimum of $250 ($50 per person). All funds raised go directly to Sleep Country’s nonprofit foster organizations to help make foster children’s “little wishes” a reality. These activities include joining a sports team, learning to play a musical instrument, attending a class field trip, or going to summer camp, where siblings are often reunited.

“Participating in extracurricular activities greatly improves a child’s quality of life and potential for future success. Unfortunately, foster youth often go without these experiences due to a lack of funding,” said Jeff Judy, Executive Director – Pacific Northwest at Olive Crest, a 2013 Pajama Bowl Beneficiary. “With support from Sleep Country’s Pajama Bowl, the foster children we serve have been able to attend summer camp, participate in sports teams by being able to get the equipment and shoes, participate in music with instruments, and get a leg up in school with extra support. We’re incredibly thankful to watch them gain a sense of belonging, build their self confidence and create positive memories alongside their peers.”
