Host a Drive

Host Your Own Drive!

In Washington, Oregon and Idaho there are nearly 20,000 children living in foster care. You can help them get the important items they need by hosting your own Sleep Country Foster Kids donation drive. It’s an easy way to give back to your community and leave the heavy lifting of planning and promotion to us! Information and details on how to Host Your Own Drive follow.

Foster children often enter foster care with few possessions of their own making it difficult for foster families to keep up with the material needs of growing kids – especially shoes! You can help by hosting your own Sleep Country Foster Kids Shoe Drive to collect new shoes in all sizes – toddler to adult.

How it Works

Spread the Word About Your Donation Drive

Invite, encourage, and ask friends, peers, coworkers, family and neighbors to donate new unwrapped toys for kids of all ages.

Get the word out by talking to friends, neighbors and coworkers, sending an email, and using your social network. Below is a sample email you can use.

Hang posters in high-traffic areas or distribute to potential donors at gatherings.

Talk it up at staff meetings, kid's soccer games, or community gatherings, send an announcement in your work newsletter, or slip the information into a meeting agenda.

Collect Your Donations

Create a central place to collect donations whether it’s the office lobby or kitchen, or your home. Clearly mark containers for donation drop offs. If a cash donation is preferred, ask for checks made out to Sleep Country Foster Kids or they can donate online here.

Drop Off Your Donations to the Nearest Sleep Country USA

Use the store locator to find the most convenient drop off location. Or, if the donation is too large for your car, call us at 253-236-0921 and we’ll send a delivery truck to pick it up.

Share Your Success

Provide us with your name, contact information and a short story about your efforts, and we’ll share your generous story with the local newspapers and community blogs.   You deserve the fame and it shows other community members that they can make a difference to.Email communityrelations@sleepcountry.com

Subject: Help me give the Northwest’s 20,000 foster kids a reason to kick up their feet!

Hi there,

As many of you know, it’s difficult to keep up with the needs of growing kids. It’s especially hard for new foster parents welcoming children into their home who have very few possessions of their own. Help me ensure these foster kids have a new pair of shoes that fit properly by donating to Sleep Country’s annual Shoe Drive for Foster Kids.

The Sleep Country Foster Kids program takes in donations and disperses them to those children most in need through its 22 non-profit partners in the Northwest. My goal is to collect (number) of new shoes, and I need your help!

Donations of new shoes in all sizes – infants to adults – can be dropped off at (insert location) by June 9th and I will take them to Sleep Country. I have fun shopping and always find great deals that allow me to buy a few more items, but if shopping isn’t your cup of tea, you can always donate online and Sleep Country employees will do the shopping on your behalf.

Thanks,

(insert name)
