Host a Drive
Host Your Own Drive!
In the Northwest, there are nearly 20,000 children living in foster care. You can help them get the important items they need by hosting your own Sleep Country Foster Kids donation drive. It’s an easy way to give back to your community and leave the heavy lifting of planning and promotion to us! Information and details on how to Host Your Own Drive follow.
Current Drive: Shoe Drive - Bend/Eugene (3/19 - 5/13), Washington (4/23 - 6/3), Portland (4/16 - 6/3)
For foster children, leaving home with only the clothes on their backs is often the reality. For foster families, this means replenishing the essentials such as clothing, coats, pajamas, and shoes. The notion of any child trying to run on the playground in shoes that are too tight or overly worn is heartbreaking. You can help make sure the foster children in your community can put their best foot forward by hosting a Shoe Drive for area foster children.
Upcoming Drive: Clothing Drive (6/4-7/22)
How it Works
Spread the Word About Your Donation Drive
Invite, encourage, and even solicit friends, peers, coworkers, family and neighbors to donate new shoes of all sizes for foster kids.
Get the word out by talking to friends, neighbors and coworkers, sending an email, and using your social network. Below is a
sample email you can use.
Hang posters in high-traffic areas or distribute to potential donors at gatherings.
Talk it up at staff meetings, kid's soccer games, or community gatherings, send an announcement in your work newsletter, or slip the information into a meeting agenda.
Collect Your Donations
Create a central place to collect donations whether it’s the office lobby or kitchen, or your home. Clearly mark containers for donation drop offs. If a cash donation is preferred, ask for checks made out to Sleep Country Foster Kids or they can donate online here.
Drop Off Your Donations to the Nearest Sleep Country USA
If the donation is too large for your car, call us 253-236-0921 and we’ll send a delivery truck to pick it up. Otherwise, use the store locator to find the most convenient drop off location.
Share Your Success
Provide us with your name, contact information and a short story about your efforts, and we’ll share your generous story with the local newspapers and community blogs. You deserve the fame and it shows other community members that they can make a difference to.Email fosterkids@sleepcountry.com

Subject: Help me help foster children make great strides with new shoes
Hi there,
Foster children are often removed from their homes with only the clothes on their backs. For foster families, this means replenishing essentials like clothing, coats, pajamas, and shoes. I can’t imagine any child playing on the playground in shoes that are extremely worn or too tight.
That’s why I’m supporting the Sleep Country Shoe Drive for Foster Kids this year. With 20 nonprofit foster organization partners, the program is designed to take in donations and disperse them to those children most in need. My goal is to collect (number) of new shoes for children of various ages and all sizes, and I need your help!
Donations of new shoes sized toddler to adult can be dropped off at (insert location) and I will take them to Sleep Country. I have fun with shopping and always find great deals that allow me to buy one or two more items, but if shopping isn’t your cup of tea, you can always write a check and Sleep Country employees will do the shopping on your behalf.
Let me know if you have questions!
Thanks,
