Host an Upcoming Foster Kids Drive
Host Your Own Foster Kids Shoe Drive!
In Washington, Oregon and Idaho there are nearly 20,000 foster children. They often enter foster care with few possessions of their own making it difficult for foster families to keep up with the material needs of growing kids – especially shoes! You can help by hosting your own Sleep Country Foster Kids Shoe Drive to collect new shoes in all sizes – toddler to adult. It’s an easy way to give back to your community and leave the heavy lifting of planning and promotion to us!
Upcoming Drive: Toy Drive (3/25 - 5/5)
How it Works
Spread the Word About Your Donation Drive
Invite, encourage, and even solicit friends, peers, coworkers, family and neighbors to donate new, unwrapped toys for kids of all ages.
Get the word out by talking to friends, neighbors and coworkers, sending an email, and using your social network. Below is a sample email you can use.
Hang posters in high-traffic areas or distribute to potential donors at gatherings.
Talk it up at staff meetings, kid's soccer games, or community gatherings, send an announcement in your work newsletter, or slip the information into a meeting agenda.
Collect Your Foster Kids Donations
Whether it’s the office, lobby or kitchen, or your home, create a central place to collect donations. Clearly mark containers for donation drop offs.
Drop Off Your Donations to the Nearest Sleep Country USA
If the donation is too large for your car, call us 253-236-0921 and we’ll send a delivery truck to pick it up. Otherwise, use the store locator to find the most convenient drop off location.
Share Your Success
You deserve the recognition and it shows other community members that they can make a difference too. Provide us with your name, contact information and a short story about your efforts, and we’ll share your generosity with the local newspapers and community blogs. Email fosterkids@sleepcountry.com

Remember your favorite pair of shoes as a kid? Mine (lit up on the side, were hot pink, were converse, etc.)! Join me in helping ensure local foster children have a cool, comfortable new pair of shoes they can wear for school and play. I’m collecting donations at (insert drop off location) through June 9th to support the Sleep Country Foster Kids Shoe Drive.

Subject: Help me give the Northwest’s 20,000 foster kids a reason to kick up their feet!
Hi there,
As many of you know, it’s difficult to keep up with the needs of growing kids. It’s especially hard for new foster parents welcoming children into their home who have very few possessions of their own. Help me ensure these foster kids have a new pair of shoes that fit properly by donating to Sleep Country’s annual Shoe Drive for Foster Kids.
The Sleep Country Foster Kids program takes in donations and disperses them to those children most in need through its 22 non-profit partners in the Northwest. My goal is to collect (number) of new shoes, and I need your help!
Donations of new shoes in all sizes – infants to adults – can be dropped off at (insert location) by June 9th and I will take them to Sleep Country. I have fun shopping and always find great deals that allow me to buy a few more items, but if shopping isn’t your cup of tea, you can always donate online and Sleep Country employees will do the shopping on your behalf.
Let me know if you have questions!
Thanks,
